To be honest, it's not critics it's just that Americans and Brits like different things. I've seen too many shows from Broadway that I found dull, shallow etc. I loved Groundhog Day but don't get me started on Dear Evan Hansen.....
It's a rarity when tastes coincide nowadays, it seemed different in the golden age (although the whimsy of Finian's Rainbow, Carnival etc always bombed here in the UK). |
