Agree. I have the DVD of the film, and it holds up remarkably well. Its authenticity remains persuasive. It delivers everything Inge documented about the midwest. And of course, it has Booth. Booth still destroys me, every time I watch the call to her mother. It's one of the most wrenching moments of reckoning put on film. Her performance permeates the film, as it should, and Lancaster is fine.
