Note: haven’t seen this production.

But isn’t the message of the show that her love, though it may not have saved her, “cracked the walls of the house of the Beauxhomme” and moved toward better relations in future generations (and an interracial relationship for Daniels son).
Doesn’t Ti Moune’a blind compassion and love make it all the more powerful?
This isn’t about an female swooning after an abusive man. This is about a couple fighting against a time, place, and society and - although not making them all topped, taking steps so that future generations learn from their tale.

And that is why they tell the story.
