In ''Lucy and Jessie,'' did John Berkman do that amazing dance music? (I also loved the wailing clarinet of Jonathan Tunick's orchestration.)

And is the musical opening (overture) written by Sondheim, or did Berkman do that based on the themes Sondheim wanted?

What a career Berkman had: ''Kwamina,'' ''Jimmy,'' ''Minnie's Boys,'' ''The Grass Harp,'' ''Sugar,'' ''Pippin'' and ''Follies.''
