I also saw it three times: once in DC, twice in LA. In DC, Paige sang it well but no more. In LA, at a Mother’s Day matinee, she was horrid, as were others in the cast, including Victoria Clark. But, all was forgiven when I saw the final performance at the Ahmanson. Paige and Clark were both spectacular, and the other leads all sparkled. I was so glad I jumped in and bought a ticket for that performance as soon as the production was announced. I doubt that I’ll ever see better (and, I quite liked the National’s HD broadcast - which I’m going to see again in a week and a half).
