The Hudson has an interesting history. It stopped showing live plays from about 1968 until 2015. As I walked out, after the play, I saw a plaque testifying that Tex & Jinx used to broadcast from there, and the legendary 8 hour long production of Strange Interlude with Jane Fonda and Jason Robarts Jr. played there (Sardis had a dinner special between the two halves). Anyway, I just wanted to report that, seated in the balcony Friday, I have never seen so many people coming to their seats holding glass wine glasses and other drinks. A new experience for someone who remembers when a popular beverage sold in theatres was a waxed paper carton of orangeade. As for the play itself, it has a lot of loopy twists and turns. Ms. Thurman is glamorous and beautiful, but the display of vicious D.C. human rodents is what everyone goes to the theatre these days to escape having to think about.
