  • Last week, which ended November 26 and included the four-day Thanksgiving weekend, Broadway grosses totaled $39,079,348 for 31 shows.

In the prior week, which ended November 19, Broadway grosses totaled $31,147,317 for the same 31 shows.

In the comparable Thanksgiving week last year, Broadway grosses totaled $35,280,355 for 34 shows.

  • Broadway had a great Thanksgiving week by every measure. The big family musicals did especially well. But, ……

    — Recently opened plays, Junk and M. Butterfly, are sinking fast.

    — Time and the Conways, in its final week, went down instead of up. The not-for-profit production from the Roundabout closed on Sunday at the American Airlines Theatre, having grossed a cumulative $3,148,688 for 27 previews and 56 regular performances which was a poor showing.

    — And then there is the new musical revue, Home for the Holidays. Last week, it grossed just $48,496 for a regular week of 8 performances at the August Wilson Theatre. That figure is 3.3% of the show’s potential gross. The average paid admission was a staggering low $13.51. Only 36.5% of the seats, paid and comped, were occupied.
