This theater used to hold performances at the super-convenient Players Theater, right around the corner from the A/C/E and B/D/F/M trains at West 4th Street. If their goal is to sell tickets, why would they move all the way over to the far West Side? The Pearl Theater at 11th Ave & 42nd St just went out of business, and I bet their horribly inconvenient location from the subway was partially to blame. These "way out there" locations would be better suited for condos and co-ops, not theaters.
Also, so many of the "political" plays these days have been selling very poorly, since you're obviously turning away the 50% of the audience who disagrees with your particular politics. If you're a theater who wants to stay in business, is it a smart business decision to turn off 50% of your audience? |
