If a critic were to write a piece stating, "I ONLY want to see plays about rape and assault in which there is absolutely no doubt that the woman in question was raped or assaulted," I'd say THAT would be an appalling breach of the critic's responsibility. But that's not what Soloski wrote, and indeed, she herself acknowledges (in the section you quoted) that "I also prefer snaking plots and complicated psychology." |
