Per this week's Chelsea Now newspaper: If anyone was curious what's happening with the Pearl Theater's old space on the far west side at 11th Ave/42nd St, the improv Upright Citizens Brigade Theater is moving into that space.
Curious - how does an off-off-Broadway theater afford such an expensive area of town with million dollar condominiums going up all around it? Who is paying for it to be there? Is it the taxpayers, is it corporations, etc? I imagine developers would be salivating to raze the theater and put in more condominiums there. |
