Not to label UCB, but some of these nonprofits are complete crooks.
I used to belong to a church theater company, Triangle Theater on 89th St, that gouged you for EVERYTHING-- actors had to supply costumes, and props, and snacks for the audience, besides all their hard work, for free naturally...we weren't reimbursed for anything while they charge $15 at the door to all of our friends, this for a SCRIPT IN HAND READING. Really? 15 DOLLARS FOR A READING? And why didn't the fifteen dollars go toward the expenses of the event? Why
shake down the artists. DISGUSTING.
I found out the head, Dudley Stone, was negotiating with the board for two roundtrip tickets to Stratford on Avon for him AND HIS WIFE (on supposed theater "business" ) out of the fund generated by this nickel-and-diming of the church "community"/Re: SUCKERS. In other words, they had thousands of dollars while they
made us pay for everything. Needless to say, I've since moved on to a legit operation.
MORAL: Don't let the word "Church" fool you--some of these churches house theaters that SCAM AND SHAKE DOWN all who participate. |
