I read it but didn't see the Signature production. I liked it. It's a very scary play. Unfortunately, I found it all too believable. And I think it's directed more at creative types in cities like London and New York which might explain some of the negative reactions. But I can also see how people might be bored or frustrated by Shawn's plays. I always find them compelling, if not dramatically then as literature or political art.

My favorite part was the final irony that the failed artists were less targeted for assassination than the successful ones and I found the moment where the failed artist asked the successful one to arrange her murder very touching in a deeply grotesque way. Shawn fused the professional vanity of actors and writers with the status quo of a murderous government of the future in a remarkably disturbing way.
