As Bill says, the Goodspeed production is the first version of the fully revised show. To quote bookwriter David Thompson: “We’ve pretty much changed just about everything. The only thing I would always hold on to was anything that was a funny joke from Joe Stein; those things are gold.” That was in the New Haven Register article http://www.nhregister.com/entertainment/article/Goodspeed-readies-a-fresh-retooled-version-of-12241965.php

Previously, Rebecca was a reactive character, and in the revised version, she is much more active and motivated for her own purposes. See CT Post article
