I saw this play when it was premiered at Vassar’s Powerhouse in 2013. They’ve also premiered plays like SWEAT and THE WOLVES, so quality is kind of their thing. This was a far cry from either of them, a drama so inert that I and all my friends sat there for ninety minutes wondering why the play had been chosen. According to the woman who ran the festival that year, it had been accepted based on a first draft, and she said it with a point of pride we all couldn’t believe when we had the chance to see it for ourselves.

I have no idea if this is still in the play but it bears repeating: during the play one of the lead actresses did a nude scene that came out of nowhere and added nothing to the story. When someone asked the director why he included it, he said, “Well, it wouldn’t be a Scott Elliott play unless it had nudity.” I didn’t respect him much before he said that; I have zero respect for him now.
