| I'm on the fence too. I loved the original.. it was the first b'way show I saw twice...I think I can deal with tweaks in the story...and the voices sound wonderful. I'm not sure I can fall in with the choreography- from the clips I've seen of Mama Will Provide, it seems less grounded in the earth, less sensual. I remember thinking even Mama Euralie and TonTon Julian were DOWN there. It seems there's a twist on the gods too, they seem more literal and not a part of the story tellers...I think I can deal with that... I liked what they did with Mama Ge-she seems demonic and I liked that. My fear is it might crush the fond memories I have, like revivals of A Chorus Line have done. I doubt if I'll ever see ACL again. |
