The shortlist for most other categories had three nominees each. Best Musical had seven which suggests little consensus among the nominators. They do not make a distinction between new and revival musicals. Among the seven nominees here, only Follies and She Loves Me are revivals. The other five shows were presented for the first time in London, including Dreamgirls.
