Wasn't Reinking's difficulty with choreography specifically created for McKechnie (a very different sort of dancer) what lead to Bennett making the decision to allow the choreography in "The Music and the Mirror" to be adapted to each Cassie's particular strengths, rather than continually asking other dancers to ape McKechnie?
(And, by "difficulty" I don't mean that I imagine that Reinking had any issue doing the steps, just that it must have been challenging doing choreography that was so built on another dancer's body and skill set.)
If that's the case, than it's hardly fair to judge Reinking by the same standard as later Cassies. She had a degree of difficulty that no other Cassie had to manage. |
