Shipoopi. The nadir of an otherwise glorious score.
I hope you're not surprised that I disagree. I think it's a fun song - appropriate to the moment, appropriately silly, youthful, and "down home" - and if the vocal doesn't grab you, well, the dance arrangement is wonderfully infectious.
In fact, I'd say that that dance arrangement, and the music for the "Marian The Librarian" ballet, are among my favorite moments in the score. Which is indeed a glorious score all around. |
