The work may not be enough any more, thank goodness. Spacey certainly wouldn't be the first reprehensible human being with extraordinary talent.

We've had a tradition in our society that great talent is enough to excuse poor (and sometimes illegal) behavior and, if that is coming to a halt, it's only a good thing. Lots of people are very talented. Few reach the heights of someone like Spacey or Harvey Weinstein or [fill in the blank here]. If the behavior of these people had put an end to their careers early on, perhaps it would have cleared the way for other talented people to have brilliant careers and shine in the spotlight. Or perhaps these people might have paid the price and mended their ways and still had wonderful careers, only without harrassing and abusing people along the way.

I must believe that it's possible to reach the highest heights in any field (not just show business) without being a detestable human being.
