I thought opening night playbills had a sticker on them. Even when I looked in orch, none had any. And those rear mezz
Seats are pretty tight leg room depending on the row. Row n was terrible , but m was better.
As for the show on stage, I do wish I had watched more than one cartoon before going. I didn’t know all the characters. The score is surprisingly NOT a disjointed mess like I thought it would be with a dozen different song writers. If anyone deserves a tony it is the orchestrator to score them to sound like from one source. From one that thought suessical was brilliant blend of stories to make a musical, I felt this was not very inspired. Granted, I’m not an insider of Spongebob but I’m also not an expert in dr Seuss. I felt left out her as the audience roared in laughter. But that could be more opening night invited crowd than usual. Except for the squids extravaganza tap number in the second act, this was rather boring show. But not much plays on Monday night and as someone put it on this board —60 rear mezz is all it’s really worth. $20m investment, good luck recovering that. |
