The show has to pay for the stickers. Most don't.

I've only looked at a couple reviews so far, but most of them had some variation on "You're better off if you know the TV show." My entire knowledge of SpongeBob was the first two lines of the theme song, which were in a car commercial several years ago. I had listened to the cast recording, too. And I probably missed some of the finer in-jokes, but I didn't feel as totally at sea as they're suggesting. I loved it, and didn't find the lack of background a problem at all.

"Just go with it" is another common factor. Don't look for depth or complexity or get hung up trying to pick it apart. It's a good time, if you let it be.
