When I saw DEH at Second Stage and at the Music Box, I wondered why they wrote music for the lead that forced him to go into falsetto voice. It seemed awkward and unnecessary.
Maybe it was the way Ben Platt was handling it that took me out of the moment the several times it happened.
Anyway, I saw Noah Galvin sing "Waving Through the Window" last night at the Wigs & Wishes Benefit at the Theatre at MSG, and I thought he handled the jump to high notes seamlessly.
HIs singing was effortless and strong. He seemed very comfortable doing it.
Whether his face is as expressive as Platt's, or whether he conveys the same emotion when he sings, is a matter about which folks may differ. Last night was a concert and the song was performed out of context. |
