In case you don't already know Blitzstein's Juno, there is an original-cast recording, and it's a fine piece, with a very rich
and dramatic score. The three leads are actors rather than singers per se, but they're so personable you can almost see
them (and there are strong singers in featured roles, along with a lot of chorus work).
Though Juno ran only a few weeks, Columbia gave it an excellent recording, using far more of the score than some hits
received. No Blitzstein buff should be without it. |
