Could the producers tell people in advance when there is going to be less than an adequate performance -- and sell tickets at even a greater discount? Oh, how about: Deliver exactly the same performance to each audience as would be expected if the production could be called "professional.'
I saw Miss Saigon shortly after the opening of its original B'Way run and I saw it five times more during the course of that run. I also saw it last year in London. But what I saw a few weeks ago on "Broadway" bore very little resemblance to those earlier experiences and I mean in a bad way.
I think the faltering ticket sales and attendance at this production is a pretty good indication of the word-of-mouth here -- especially since it's such a crap shot on who you are going to see in it and their capabilities. |
