If the production makes an effort to be inclusive in such a way that it's indicated to the audience that they are watching a color-blind production, it shouldn't be an issue, particularly since race isn't a part of the story.
If it's otherwise an all-white production and there's one person of color in the show... some people might be more resistant, but again, it's a holiday entertainment rather than a historical document, so I think it would work, hypothetically.
Of course, a specific audience might be more opposed than a generic audience, if, perhaps, the audience comes to "White Christmas" with a set expectation of what the 40s/50s in America is meant to look like. |
