| This is always an interesting discussion with no definitive answer. It really boils down to whether an audience will look beyond historical facts and accept the story. In Holiday Inn, there is no plot that involves WW2. In White Christmas, the military plays a big part of the story. Bob and Phil are in the same Army unit and of course, the races were separate in the military at that time. The military officially disbanded segregation in 1948. It's the same with any period show of a specific time where different races would not work or live together. Some people have no problem with that at all while others simply can't get beyond the time and date of the show and what historically would be correct. |
