| Head over to a Michael's or some other craft store and for ornaments pick up miniature pies, a chair that could be modified into a barber's chair, sausage links, rolling pins and, if you can find anything resembling them, straight razors (not real ones!) Or it might be cheaper to make them out of air hardening clay and paint them. You could also create garlands molding little meat pies, sausages, etc. around red thread or string and space them in even, or, in reference to Sweeny's disturbed mind, uneven intervals. Go through the song lyrics and find some other ideas - miniature travel brochures to the seaside, tiny bathing outfits with stripes, a small green finch and linnet bird, etc. The possibilities are endless and limited only by your and your students' imaginations. And for a tree topper? How about a molded clay Sweeny and Mrs. Lovett in their iconic pose brandishing his razor and her rolling pin? |
