Our place (NW end of the San Fernando Valley) isn't in the path of any of the fires, and we're several miles from the Santa Susanna mountains with a freeway in between. So no danger here, thank goodness, but my sister and her family in La Crescenta were on the edge of the evacuation zone--we were ready in case they needed to bunk here. The smoke and ash have been pretty bad, though better today.

It's kind of unnerving to realize there are two to the north, one to the south, and the biggest in Santa Paula (over 100,000 acres) is inching southwest towards us. But 2003 was worse--we were packed to evacuate then.

But I do appreciate your concern! Keep your fingers crossed the winds settle down. After all, I need the Sepulveda Pass (which normally is hell to drive, but yesterday it literally looked like it) clear on Sunday so I can see the NT Live FOLLIES broadcast at UCLA!
