I don't mind this lyric so much - do you feel perhaps that it's just too clever for its own good? (I'd understand that.)
Staying on Rice, I think the entire lyric of "Any Dream Will Do" is just treacly nonsense - a lot of jumbled metaphors that add up to nothing, and that don't really have anything to add to the show.
