Not that my experience is dispositive, but I played Kris Kringle in my high school production of "Here's Love." I had a great time. But now, looking back, the title song--one of my solos--is among the worst catalog songs ever written. "From me to you/From you to me/From people to people wherever they may be./ From the ground floor apartment to the party just above:/Here's Love!/Here's Love!/From the car with the bumper to the car that needs a shove:/Here's Love, love, love." The patter song, "She Had To Go Back," is sexist and dull although it has a great button when the very adult "girl scout" knocks on the apartment door at eleven pm to "sell cookies" to the bachelor who lives there. "Expect Things To Happen" and "Pine Cones and Holly Berries"--two more of Kris' solos--I knew were just bad songs even at 17 years old. And the dream ballet was pitiful.

"That man over there is Santa Claus. I know. I know. I know..." Yech! "This famous plastic alligator's guaranteed for life..." (same melody) Double yech!
