Eva's attempt at a message is that, given her humble beginnings, she still wants to be thought of as "one of the people" - not the glamorous actress nor the First Lady at heart.

She wants everyone to still see her as "a girl you once knew," although now she's "dressed up to the nines," which makes her stylistically appear "at sixes and sevens" with (i.e. in conflict with, or, if you will, in "confusion" with) the poor people she wants to serve and identify with.

It makes perfect sense to me. (Now, whether she really MEANS it or not is part of the intrigue of the character, lol.)

To me, far clearer than Mr. Hart's very contorted and weird imagery of someone "reaching FROM a check." (Which indeed appears to be at 6's and 7's with normal human interaction - when does anyone ever reach FROM something? Makes no sense to me, even as a sort of ironic joke.)
