This one from the "Being Mrs. Banks" reprise in "Mary Poppins" always, always bothers me:
I have a comfy home
I have a simple life
I have a name which tells the world
I'm someone else's wife
Mr. and Mrs. Banks . . . Who "else's wife" do people think you are? I get the idea of what they are going for, but the lyric, as written, makes no sense when taken literally. Calling the Sherman Brothers! |
