Some shows can't replace the lead (Hugh jackman in oz), some replacements are better (Reba in Annie/gun) and some shows just need a star (hello dolly--sorry, I like Murphy, but Bette and carol are big broad actors that the show needs) and then there is Noah galvin that proves Ben can be replaced and the show will survive. Noah starts out a little more aspergery than I recall Ben, but he sings the part as well and I was sold on him by "for forever" and his "words fail" was devastating. if on the fence about seeing him, he's great and he's only two-three weeks in.
As a side note, the two girls on the aisle and the guy next to me left at intermission and they probably paid premium at 450 each. Ouch. |
