| I think the worst song in a major musical is The King's Barcarole in Candide. Take your choice, are the lyrics worse than the repetitive melody or vice versa. It serves no useful purpose, so I can not fathom why Bernstein didn't leave it where it belongs, on the floor with other cut music. Ooooooppppppppsssssss, once he got finished restoring everything he ever wrote into a performing edition (two syphilis songs??) there was nothing left on the floor. The King's Barcarole needs to go. |
