I think several of the lyrics in "Argentina" sound sort of nonsensical
Starting with the title lyric -- which you may or may not know was changed in the recording studio (it was originally "It's only your lover returning"). The problem is that I think most people assume that "cry" means to be sorrowful for, when it really means "call" - "There's no need to call out for me, as you just did, people of Argentina - because I'm still right here with you" as it were. But I think that for the most part, people hear it as a much more mawkish "don't cry over me" or "don't feel bad for me." |
