| There may never have been, but I'm curious and would be surprised if there weren't some kind of something -- given the material, and that it was done by two HBO prestige favs, Kushner and George Wolfe, I would think it logical that they may have tried this. And I would be very surprised if Kushner, given his love of this particular project (his favorite work of his, I remember reading), if he hasn't tried to appeal to HBO to do a TV movie of it if not to have recorded the Broadway production in some way. Or what about PBS? A musical by America's most prominent living dramatist about race and class and civil rights and family etc etc, with (some would say) a once in a lifetime performance like the one Pinkins gave... it just seems like a very obvious choice for a PBS broadcast or an HBO movie. I know some times there are plans or intentions and the funding doesn't come together at the right time and then the moment has passed. But i'm curious if anyone remembers or knows about any public or private plans to film or adapt Caroline or Change between 2003-2008 when the original production would have been playing in NYC, LA or London or still in recent memory? |
