| Who's to say Fanny didn't make the moo goo gai pan herself, and then put the leftovers in the "icebox" (what everybody including my family still called their refrigerators in the 1950s) in a repurposed coffee can--something people were also inclined to do in the '50s, before the widespead use of Tupperware, etc.? Probably a Hills Brothers coffee can (the one with the coffee-drinking Arab logo), since Hills Bros. was in San Francisco. That's what I always figured, anyway. |
