I was at yesterday’s matinee and noticed how very high the stage is. While a few feet separate the banquettes from the stage, it looked to me as though those in the first few rows, especially banquettes, would not be able to see the lower half of the actors or get a good view of certain set pieces. I would aim for at least five or six rows back.
On the other hand, the first banquette row does provide the chance of a bit of interaction with Rylance as the king, and it’s a great spot —along with lower stage seating— to appreciate his inimitable facial expressions, so there’s that. “Best” seat location depends on personal preference. |
