Well, if you bought it, you bought it. I didn't - especially since it wasn't in the original production to begin with.
Take Gwen Verdon, for example; she was undoubtedly a star, but she socialized with her backup dancers and remembered all their names - even decades after working with them. And Mary McCarty played Stella Deems as a down-to-earth performer without airs or diva-like qualities of ANY kind.
There have been more than a few changes to Follies throughout the years, but I still believe the original production worked the best. But that's just me. |
