I know - a curious announcement when there is no creative team involved yet. I wonder if Comcast/Universal is looking to inflate the value of its back catalog - perhaps as part of negotiations to purchase the studio parts of FOX.

What's crazy? Every project starts somewhere. With a film property and Star secured, it's going to be easier to get money and find the right team to collaborate with Chenoweth and her skills.

Because IMHO it's the tail wagging the dog... and again, an attempt to 'rebrand' a property rather than someone doing a stage adaptation because they found the source material inspiring. Sondheim didn't do A Little Night Music because a studio hired him to 'rebrand' Ingmar Bergman!

Out today.

My, what an odd thing to announce without someone with ... the musical adaptation vision thing. Maybe it's Ms. Chenoweth, coveting this role. I'd rather see her play Margaret Thatcher or Karen Silkwood with songs myself. But I'm funny that way.

Chenoweth in the STREEP role?? I would've said the Goldie Hawn role. Huh.

But Madeline (that's the name of the Streep character, right?) is the one who is the glamorous performer at the start of the story. Wasn't she on stage singing and dancing when she caught the eye of Helen's fiancé? It doesn't surprise me that she wanted this part instead of the plain Jane who becomes glamorous.

I guess, but I mean... "know thyself". I feel she'd be pretty darn dynamite in the Goldie Hawn part. I mean I'd rather do something I'd be good at. But who knows maybe she thought it was just a recap of Lily Garland.

Okay, I'll re-watch it.

Perhaps its pleasures were lost on me in my ... youth. I'll take a new peek.

With no writer or composer, I have a long time to look.
