Your point about the CGI was the very first thing I thought of when I saw this announcement. Part of the fun of the film is the creative use of special effects, almost none of which could work in the theatre, and there were whole scenes built around the effects. I will be curious to see how the creative team develops the story into something that can stand without all that and I have a feeling that this show will be a very different animal from the movie.
