They actually did a similar show in 2007. They called it Stairway to Heaven -- it was an evening of well known songs and some skits from the great Broadway revues of the 30's and 40's. I enjoyed it -- the songs were well performed by a strong cast; unfortunately the skits were very hit or miss. I would imagine that Hey Look Me Over will be an enjoyable (if somewhat slight) evening.
I've been able to catch 18 Encores shows over the years. I have really enjoyed all of the them. Until quite recently each one was very well attended. However, when I saw Zorba in 2015 and The Golden Apple this year, I was shocked at how poorly sold both productions were. I assume that is one of the reasons they are doing a rather inexpensive show like Hey Look Me Over in order to save money and keep the series going. |
