They actually did a similar show in 2007. They called it Stairway to Heaven -- it was an evening of well known songs and some skits from the great Broadway revues of the 30's and 40's. I enjoyed it -- the songs were well performed by a strong cast; unfortunately the skits were very hit or miss. I would imagine that Hey Look Me Over will be an enjoyable (if somewhat slight) evening.

I've been able to catch 18 Encores shows over the years. I have really enjoyed all of the them. Until quite recently each one was very well attended. However, when I saw Zorba in 2015 and The Golden Apple this year, I was shocked at how poorly sold both productions were. I assume that is one of the reasons they are doing a rather inexpensive show like Hey Look Me Over in order to save money and keep the series going.

Just for the record, it was called STAIRWAY TO PARADISE. Stairway to Heaven is a rock classic by Led Zeppelin.

My recollection of it was that the first sketch got the longest and loudest laughs I had heard in years (it was mostly about sneezing) and the second one was kind of a dud. But the numbers were very strong.

One thing no one has yet commented on is that the "reason" for HEY LOOK ME OVER is to celebrate Encores!' 25th birthday. That seems like a fair reason to do something like this. 25 years is a pretty good run.

I keep calling the Encore Stairway to Heaven the Revue revue. It was the first time I Saw Kristen Chenoweth on stage. MY! the lady filled the whole theater, just extraordinaire==As for the show itself, the second half, which began with the first post WW II review, was somewhat weaker, because the material in the reviews began to thin out....This time around, I planned my week in NYC around THE GOLDEN APPLE. But I later added in The Great Comet, and on my last day in town, went to 2pm Dolly, and 7pm APPLE, a delirious sunday in the Thee -ay-tuh I wish there were more recordings mad The NEW YORKER woyuld be a wonderful 'album' If I were a Rich man, the would all be recorded as a sign of love and care for us out=of=towners. I f I were a New Yorker, I would subscribe to every season.,.
