I also saw her (I think at the new Circle in the Square) in Medea. That was powerful.

That was directed by Minos Volanakis - a very brilliant man who also directed the US premiere of Genet's THE SCREENS Off-Broadway, with unforgettable costumes by Willa Kim. Julie Bovasso and Grayson Hall were in the cast. I didn't see his MEDEA, but I don't doubt that he and Papas together knew how to mine that play's dark power.

The mention of Mr Walken reminded me of seeing him as Shakespeare's Richard II. He was the guest artist with the Um of Mich student theater program. He was excellent. and (I think he's tall) he had a way of striding across the stage, that seemed perfect, for King Richard. He didn't seem to continue in a popular split, e.g. popular films/classical theater, that Kevin Kline and(fill in the name of you favorite Brit_) have done. But his Richard II in fall of '78(before release of THE DEER HUNTER) was the only time I saw him on stage, and, other than THE DEAD, I can't,off the top of my head, remember his stage credits.
