When you showed up, the boxoffice had a tough single to sell so they could make a deal.
It depends on the show, the particular theater, the right boxoffice person, the right time of day, and undoubtedly other factors that I probably haven't figured out yet, but it's definitely doable. You need cajones and you have to realize that you'll be shot down (sometimes politely, sometimes not so politely) at least 75% of the time. Nevertheless, if you know how to do it and you're after a single, you can on occasion get a good seat for a really cheap price. I suspect that the reverse is also true if the person buying the ticket has no clue as to how the system works. I'm pretty sure that I was rooked a few times years ago when I was a novice at seeing Broadway shows. |
