| If the speculation on this board is correct, Hello, Dolly! has not recouped its investment yet. It's not greedy for a producer to try to return his backers' investment. For Broadway to continue to provide excellent plays and musicals season after season, a certain percentage of the shows need to recoup. Last year I fear was a commercial disaster with several high profile failures (Comet, Groundhog Day, Bandstand, In Transit, War Paint, Amelie, Significant Other, Sweat, Indecent, A Doll's House Part 2 plus more to come) and few bona fide hits (The Front Page, Oh Hello on Broadway, Dear Evan Hansen, Come from Away, Sunday in the Park with George). |
