Favorite? I have only seen the broadcast. The production is phenomenal....mind you I’ve seen the original and have seen upteen productions (including The Philharmonic). However, I did not care for the two female leads all that much. I especially did not agree with some of the choices that Ms. Staunton made. Would you mind giving just a bit of detail as to what you liked about the two of them? I promise..l am not setting you up so that I can be rude and insulting in regards to your opinion.....the way too many people behave on this site. I’d like to know what you saw that I might have missed.
Separately. I have only seen Tracie Bennett as Judy Garland in the past. She gave an eerily amazing performance. I perceived her Carlotta as quite similar to her Judy Garland. Does anyone out there know if this was her acting choice or is this what Ms. Bennettt is like?
Lastly. There can never be too many ‘Follies’ recordings. It would be a Christmas miracle indeed were the National Theatre to surprise us with a DVD. |
