| I don't think anyone is saying it "needs" a star for the *show to work*... they are saying that to keep a big budget broadway revival running and being profitable (which is the point for producers, especially after awards are done), it will almost definitely need a bigger star than a Donna Murphy or any other great actress that could succeed on an artistic level in the role. |
