Box Office Mojo reports that ''The Greatest Showman'' did $23 million (which includes $4 million foreign), so it did $19 million domestically.
Back in October, Jeffrey Wells at HollywoodElsewhere.com says Twentieth Century Fox execs told him, in not so many words, that they didn't consider it ''Best Picture'' material. And Deadline.com reports: ''As we journeyed deeper into awards season, Fox got cold feet, and we hear that’s because it knew critics weren’t going to warm to the pic (now at 52% Rotten).'' That's why Fox embargoed reviews until the day before it opened.
Whatever it grosses, it won't be another ''La La Land,'' which won 6 Oscars and grossed $150 million domestically and $450 million worldwide. |
