| First they have to get past the tax season, which with the new law promises draconian changes for almost everyone in the entertainment industry. (If their livelihood and solvency don't interest or concern you, why troll and post on a theater board? Most people here have some connection to those who toil mightily to make merely a living, not a killing.) Also, "the booming economy" isn't really the point of the Kennedy Center honors, no matter who stimulates or suppresses it. It's about artists and art, and the resulting humanity revealed in the work performed and interpreted. The entertainers who stood united against this President likely saw a hypocrisy between policy preferences and a celebration of artists whose work addresses the very intolerance this regime endorses. |
