I had the pleasure of meeting Richard in person last summer during the American Theatre Critics Association meeting in San Francisco. He took me as his plus one to a theatre opening (I think I liked the play better than he did), and he was constantly chatting with those who were at the opening, as well as at the party afterward. He is clearly beloved by the San Francisco theatre community, and I hope that he can make a full recovery from what was clearly a very dangerous situation for him. I’ve sent my best wishes via Facebook, but I’ll wish him a swift and complete recovery here as well.
